As part of the Brittany Festival, the Friends of Roscoff Heritage Association are organising a festive port stopover on the Brittany flax route. "Step back in time and spend a day in 18th-century Roscoff! - Eighteenth-century costume parades from 10.30am to 6pm. - Re-enactment of the 18th-century landing of sacks and barrels of linseed at around 4pm on the Quai Tristan Corbière. - Demonstration and initiation to ancient dances: Middle Ages, Renaissance and 18th century. - Sailors' songs. - Ancient music. - Exhibition on flax in Brittany in the Sainte-Anne chapel. - Small craft market. - Ancient games for the general public. - Educational activities for children. - Final parade of all the volunteers in costume around 5.00 pm. A festive heritage, social and tourist event based on historical facts, which contributes to the enhancement of a heritage identity, and meets the requirements of the charter of the Petites Cités de Caractère de Bretagne network. "Between 1700 and 1783, 285,245 barrels of linseed passed through the port of Roscoff, representing sales of between 5,000 and 600,000 pounds in the best years. The merchants of MORLAIX having abandoned this trade to concentrate on the purchase of canvas, the port of ROSCOFF became the only one authorised to receive ships bringing in linseed.... " 12 associations with a passion for historical re-enactments and costumes will be on hand to celebrate the festival! 200 costumed volunteers will take part in the final parade!
