With works by Darius Milhaud and Francis Poulenc, the ONB and Alexandre Tharaud pay tribute to Joséphine Baker. Under the baton of Nicolas Ellis, the orchestra's new musical director, we embark on a voyage into the carefree spirit of the inter-war years with one of the most emblematic artists of the Roaring Twenties and a fervent defender of human rights... The programme for this evening is full of vivacity, a nod to the atmosphere of the Bœuf sur le Toit, a mecca of the Parisian avant-garde, which Alexandre Tharaud revives with delight. Not forgetting an exclusive work by composer Caroline Marçot, inspired by Josephine Baker's 1962 speech in Washington alongside Martin Luther King.
