
By road
Finistère council maintains over 3,500 km of roads every year. To get around, the RN12, RN164 and RN165 are toll-free dual carriageways with a speed limit of 110km/h. They are completely free of charge and allow you to criss-cross a large part of the region, supported by a network of car-sharing areas and service stations.
Here are a few examples of how long it takes to get to Finistère by car:
Rennes or Nantes: 2 hours
Caen: 3 ½ hours
Paris or Bordeaux: 5 hours
Lille or Toulouse: 7 hours
Lyon: 8 ½ hours
Marseille : 10 ½ hours
Coaches and carpools from Paris and other major provincial cities offer another practical and economical way to get to Finistère. Connections via Blablacar, Eurolines and Flixbus.
By train
Every day, the French rail company SNCF offers train connections to and from Finistère. From Paris, you can reach the stations of Quimper and Brest in 3 ½ hours on the sncf-connect.com high-speed line.
The TGV high-speed train runs every day between Finistère and France’s major cities including Paris, Bordeaux, Lille and Lyon.
The TER local rail network also offers daily connections between the towns of Brittany and Finistère.
By plane
You can fly to Finistère via Brest airport, which offers both French and international flights*: Ajaccio, Bastia, Belle-Île-en-Mer, Bordeaux, Figari, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Nice, Ouessant, Paris, Pau, Strasbourg, Toulon, Toulouse; but also Athens, Barcelona, Dublin, Faro, Héraklion, Kerry, Lanzarote, London, Mahon, Malaga, Marrakech, Menorca, Olbia, Palermo, Palma de Majorca, Porto, Rome and finally Tenerife.
Bring your surfboard! On all routes operated by Air France/Hop (such as Paris/Brest and Lyon/Brest), you can bring your surfboard as baggage at no extra charge, for a board that’s up to 300 cm and 23 kg.

By sea
From Ireland (Cork) and England (Plymouth, Portsmouth), sail to Roscoff on the Finistère coast with Brittany Ferries.
