The Raid Canyon, Rando Mer’s flagship adventure in the Iroise Sea

Let Zoé Trifault, a sports instructor and lifeguard, guide you along the coast and out into the Iroise Sea. In Plougonvelin, just 30 minutes from Brest, Rando Mer offers an original and active way to explore the coast: the Raid Canyon, its flagship activity since 2011.
The Raid Canyon is all about coasteering: an adventure and discovery trail at the foot of the Bertheaume cliffs, within the Iroise Marine Nature Park. On the programme: swimming, scrambling, jumps… but above all, the chance to discover the spectacular landscape of our cliffs. Trails between water and rock, fissures, sheltered coves, caves and astonishing erosions. The trip starts from Bertheaume beach by motorboat, and the proximity of the sites means you can explore landscapes that are different every time, depending on the tide and the day’s conditions.

The activity is suitable for everyone aged 8 and over, whether with family, friends or as part of a team-building trip. You don’t need to be a strong swimmer: the thick wetsuit provided keeps you afloat, so you just need to feel comfortable in the water. No jumps or passages are compulsory: everyone goes at their own pace and chooses their own challenges with the guide’s approval. In the event of rough seas or heavy rain, the activity moves to the sheltered site at Curés Beach, where other routes are available.

Equipment provided by Rando Mer: thick neoprene wetsuit (ensures buoyancy and thermal comfort). Supervised by a qualified sports instructor.
Participants should bring: swimwear (to be worn under the wetsuit), a towel, a change of clothes and a pair of trainers or closed-toe shoes suitable for use in the water.

Good to know: no prior technical skills are required; being comfortable in the water is sufficient. Supervised, safe activity, scheduled according to the tide and weather.

Beyond the Raid Canyon, Rando Mer offers other ways to discover the Iroise Sea. Snorkelling invites you to observe the underwater flora and fauna – eelgrass beds, kelp, and occasionally an octopus or cuttlefish – a fun family outing for children aged 8 and over. Aquaforme at sea combines water walking (coastal walking) and aquagym in a gentle yet invigorating programme, chest-deep in salt water: all year round at Blancs Sablons beach (Le Conquet), and during the summer season at Bertheaume. Finally, swimming lessons for children take place in the open waters of the Iroise Sea, at Perzel Beach or Curés Beach.
