Abri du Marin

Anchored in the heart of the Port of Sainte-Marine, the Abri du Marin is a museum that bears witness to the life of sailors at the beginning of the last century. It also presents the work of Jacques de Thézac, its founder, who devoted his life to fishermen. Built in 1910 in the port of Sainte-Marine, the Abri du Marin is listed in the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques. It was restored in 2007 and opened to the public in 2008. A permanent collection is devoted to the work of the Shelters and the life of the fishermen. Temporary exhibitions with a maritime theme create a link between past and present, and offer visitors the chance to discover, through photographs and numerous objects, the daily life of the people of Brittany's ports. The 2025 exhibition will revisit the story of the shipwrecked sailors who are part of our maritime past. Accessibility The PRM car park is located at the end of the rue du Bac in front of the sea and the Bistrot du Bac restaurant in the port, and access is along the quay. There is a small tricky section at the entrance, but it is over 80cm wide. L'Abri du Marin has a platform lift for wheelchair access to the first floor. Dogs welcome Dogs on leads are allowed in the museum.
