Enclos paroissial de Dirinon

The parish enclosure in Dirinon is undoubtedly the one where history and legend are most closely intertwined: that of the Irish Saint-Nonne and her son, St-Divy, patron saint of Wales.

The various parts of the enclosure were built between 1577 (the chapel) and the early 18th century.
The chapel houses an impressive mid-15th-century recumbent statue of St Nun. Although this is not her tomb, the parish does have relics of the saint.
The church, built of Logonna sandstone, is a blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles. Its double-gallery bell tower (1588) is a model of its kind, and the harmony of its 4 bells makes it one of the best carillons in the département. The interior of the church is full of surprises and fantasies: the altarpiece of the Holy Trinity (south transept) is a first-rate work, and the paintings decorating the panelled vault have the Last Judgement as their theme, contributing to the well-deserved reputation of this country church.
The goldsmith's and silversmith's showcase houses the parish's sacred treasures, including a reliquary chase dating from 1450.
