A region accessible to everyone
That’s our ambition! To achieve this objective and develop accessibility for all visitors, the ‘Tout commence en Finistère’ team is working with institutional and private professionals, as well as with tourist offices and the OT29 tourism federation, constantly aiming to strengthen and improve our tourism appeal.
It relies on the dynamism of all our local authorities in consultation with individuals to ensure that everyone – including people with any disability, the elderly, families and their carers – can enjoy a pleasant stay in Finistère.
Along the major hiking routes in Finistère, discover a selection of adapted walks accessible to people with disabilities and adapted to the comfort of all thanks to the facilities and equipment on site.
Ocean racing
Finistère is the birthplace for ocean racing and also the departure point, arrival point and stopping point for some of the world’s biggest races. Port-La-Forêt is synonymous with offshore racing and home to ‘Pôle Finistère’, a training ground for world-class sailors and competitors since 1993. In Brest, some of the big names in sailing get ready to set off around the globe while Concarneau, Douarnenez and even Roscoff are stopping points for major national races.

A breeding ground for champions
The 2024-2025 Vendée Globe
In November 2024, at the line-up for the world’s greatest sailing race, Finistère had pride of place thanks to the boat ‘Tout commence en Finistère – Armor-lux’, helmed by celebrity Finistère sailor Jean Le Cam. Aged 60, this was the sixth time that Le Cam set off on this legendary yacht race that is held every four years, requiring skippers to sail around the world single-handed, with no stops and no outside assistance.
