Set off on a walk combining heritage, nature and local history along this 5.5 km trail in the heart of Pleyben, following in the footsteps of the former Réseau Breton railway line.
For around 1 hour 15 minutes, let yourself be guided along an accessible route that immerses you in the history of a railway era that has now vanished, but which left a lasting mark on the region. Opened in 1904, the line linking Carhaix-Plouguer to Châteaulin was once part of the vast Breton network designed to open up the interior of Brittany and facilitate the transport of passengers and local agricultural produce.
Along the route, discover several of the town’s most iconic landmarks: the remarkable parish enclosure and its church, Saint-Germain de Pleyben, the former railway line, the Ster Glanvez washhouse, the old Pleyben station, and the Park Balanek nature reserve.
Combining historical heritage with idyllic landscapes, this walk offers a wonderful immersion in local history and invites you to rediscover a little-known aspect of the economic and social development of Central Brittany.
