For the past 35 years, in early September, seafarers and the people of Fouesnant have gathered on Île Saint-Nicolas on the first or second Sunday in September.
The Pardon des Glénan, the last of the year in Fouesnant, is back and brings the season to a splendid close.
In the morning, a mass is held facing the sea, on the western tip of the island.
The service is followed by a blessing of the sea, in memory of those who have lost their lives at sea during the year – a moment that is always deeply moving.
Over the years, the event has become the highlight of the summer season in the resort of Fouesnant-les-Glénan.
11.00 am: Mass at Saint-Nicolas des Glénan
12.15 pm: Departure for the blessing at sea (limited places)
12.30 pm: Blessing, laying of a wreath at sea
Organised by the town of Fouesnant-les Glénan
