Journées Européennes du Patrimoine – Visite libre de l’Abri du Marin

The Abri du Marin in Sainte-Marine was founded in 1910 by the philanthropist Jacques de Thézac.
It served as a shelter for seafarers. Its primary purpose was to educate coastal communities and combat alcoholism. It ceased to operate as a shelter in 1985. Since 2008, the Abri du Marin has been a museum chronicling its own history.

You can also visit the temporary exhibition ‘Drawing the World: A History of Cartography’, which invites visitors to step back in time and understand how our perception of the world has evolved through a display of numerous maps and various artefacts.
