The exhibition “From Lighthouse to Light: The Perspective of Ramiro Chaves” forms part of the programme at the Pointe du Raz Visitor Centre, which is dedicated to lighthouses, and ties in with the “Curieux Mexique” cultural series, an event organised by a collective of organisations based in Cap Sizun.

Born in 1979 in Córdoba, Argentina, and based in Mexico since 2002, Ramiro Chaves explores the relationships between landscape, light and territory.

In 2010, during an artist’s residency organised by the Centre Atlantique de la Photographie in Brest, he travelled along the coast of Brittany, photographing the nocturnal landscapes illuminated by the lighthouses.
Through these minimalist images, he shows how a simple beam of light transforms our perception of the landscape and invites silent contemplation.

This exploration echoes his work in Mexico, where a more intense light shapes the landscapes. From Brittany to Mexico, Ramiro Chaves invites us to look at our landscapes in a different light.
