A majestic structure built of granite from Île Grande. It was constructed between 1861 and 1863 during the building of the railway line linking Paris to Brest.
The plans were drawn up by the engineer Fenoux. The result is truly magnificent: 292 metres long, 58 metres high, with 14 arches and 9 spandrels.
The Rennes–Brest line was opened in 1865.
The first level can be crossed on foot (access via the ‘Venelle de la Roche’ and the ‘Rampe du Créou’).
