[Mois du Doc] “Au fond des mères” de Lisa Lacombe

What does it mean to become a mother? What are the different emotions that intertwine with the arrival of a child? They read on the birth announcements:

‘We are overjoyed…’ and that was what they were expecting above all else: joy. Five women who do not recognise themselves in the mainstream narrative and media accounts share their ambivalent experiences. They speak of their transformations, of their births into themselves and into the world, as mothers. Five women tell their stories to a sixth, who does not know what she wants. With courage, humour and insight, they speak out to confront a conceptual void and to challenge anxiety-inducing stereotypes.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the sound recordist, Maud Lafitte.
