AKVA Sauvetage côtier – Pays Bigouden

Swimming

The AKVA SAUVETAGE COTIER association was created in May 2015 by former lifeguards wishing to develop a new activity in the Bigouden region. Its purpose is to design, organise and supervise training courses in aquatic activities and first aid, as well as organising courses in coastal lifesaving and PSA. The association also offers swimming lessons for beginners in Plovan. This sport covers a number of specialities, whether in the water or on the beach, in a swimming pool or at sea. It can be practised by anyone, at any age. Those who practise this sport become autonomous and responsible in an aquatic environment: they know how to swim, save themselves and others. Several disciplines are covered: -swimming -paddle boarding -beach flag (for the sporting part) -learning first aid techniques -learning about the environment (weather, currents, waves, etc.). As the learning process progresses, the learner is able to move around in varying conditions. The long-term aim is to be able to practice on any type of water (calm, windy, with waves, etc.). Lifesaving sport is an activity that combines individual qualities (physical ability and knowledge of the ocean) with the collective values of solidarity and cohesion that are essential to ensure everyone's safety.
