Since 2013, Breizh Road Surfing has been a travelling surf school accredited by the École Française de Surf. It offers lessons for children aged 5 and over, suitable for all ability levels, in complete safety, in the bays of Douarnenez and Audierne, depending on the day’s weather and wave conditions.
> Who am I?
Stéphane Herjean has been a state-qualified surf instructor since 2012, and is a former bodyboard competitor, lifeguard and first-aider. Passionate about the ocean since childhood, he founded Breizh Road Surfing in 2013 to offer safe, progressive surfing lessons accessible to everyone.
> Who we cater for
Surfing is suitable for children aged 5 and over. Lessons are tailored to children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to those looking to improve their skills.
You don’t need to be an excellent swimmer, but you must be comfortable in the water.
> Surfing locations
Lessons take place between the bays of Douarnenez and Audierne. The locations are selected each day based on weather and wave conditions to ensure safety and the quality of the learning experience.
Sessions may take place on the beaches at Le Ris, Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, Kervel, Pors-ar-Vag, Lestrevet, Pentrez or Plovan.
> Organisation and transport
Transport is provided by minibus, carrying all the necessary equipment.
The meeting points are in Plomodiern, Plonévez-Porzay and Douarnenez. Depending on the package chosen, participants are collected from these points before being taken to the day’s session location.
> Equipment
All equipment is provided: surfboards and wetsuits suited to participants’ body type, age and ability level.
We recommend bringing a swimsuit, a towel and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
> Supervision and Progression
Groups are organised by age and ability to ensure appropriate supervision and safe progression.
Educational support is provided throughout the sessions. At the end of a course or programme, the French Surfing Federation’s ‘Pass Surf’ may be awarded to recognise the skills acquired.
> Booking
Bookings can be made by telephone, WhatsApp, social media or via the website.
It is advisable to book in advance due to the limited number of places.
