Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic end up in the world’s oceans, disrupting marine ecosystems and endangering the lives of many species (through suffocation, ingestion of toxic substances, etc.).

Furthermore, plastic breaks down into microplastics, which, when ingested by marine organisms, eventually enter the human food chain, thereby posing health risks. Being aware of these consequences is crucial to encouraging collective and individual action aimed at reducing our plastic consumption, promoting recycling, and supporting stricter environmental policies.

The EcoPartageurs are delighted to welcome Camille Richon, a CNRS research fellow at the Laboratory of Marine Environmental Sciences (LEMAR), who will share the latest scientific findings on the issues raised by the presence of plastics in the oceans.
