A fisherman from Brest, born into a modest family in northern Finistère, Philippe Perrot began working at sea as a child before serving in the French Navy. After returning to fishing in 2006, he became the owner-skipper of the longliner Gavaoc and the shellfish vessel Mab Biel. He holds a number of key positions: Vice-Chairman of the Finistère Fisheries Committee and the Iroise Marine Park, and Chairman of the CNPMEM’s Maritime Safety Commission. A visionary, he advocates for sustainable fishing that incorporates new technologies and enhanced safety. With his in-depth knowledge of the marine ecosystem dating back to 1987, he champions the diversity and variety of French fisheries as a source of wealth.
