Ensemble Matheus : Le Messie

Handel’s absolute masterpiece, *The Messiah*, has stood the test of time with its power undiminished. The Ensemble brings this monumental oratorio back to life in all its fervour.

Composed in 1741, the work unfolds a sweeping narrative inspired by the Bible, carried in a single breath by the choir, the soloists and the orchestra. On stage, luminous arias and choral passages follow one another, culminating in the famous ‘Hallelujah’ chorus, which has been setting concert halls alight for nearly three centuries. Founded thirty-five years ago, the Ensemble Matheus has established itself, with its renowned talent, as one of the leading ambassadors of the Baroque repertoire. Under the spirited baton of Jean-Christophe Spinosi, the ensemble presents another evening of musical exaltation, heightened by the performers’ energy.
