‘Fleeting Impressions’
The sea with its many faces…
In a world in a state of constant change,
‘Fleeting Impressions’ invites us to feel the sea rather than simply look at it, to refocus on the element, on nature, on what is essential…
This series offers a contemplative immersion in the marine element, where light and movement create deliberately abstract images, reminiscent of paintings…
“This series of exhibitions came about quite naturally. Living by the sea, I began my photographic journey by capturing the seascapes around me, before gradually incorporating various subjects over the years: seabirds, seals, beaches, dune vegetation, and so on.
Apart from my projects dedicated to wildlife photography, the sea has become one of my main subjects. It is often sufficient in itself, surrounded by very few elements: sea and sky… sand, sea and sky… sand and sea… sometimes just the sea.
Where I come from, we say that you can visit the same place ten times in a single day, ten days in a row, for ten months on end, without ever encountering the same atmosphere. This constant variation has become the central theme of my work: the myriad atmospheres of the coastline and its ceaseless change.
My approach to photography – adjusting exposure times and favouring very minimalist compositions – aims more to convey a feeling than to offer a conventional representation of the subject. It is important to me that the viewer of my images is immersed in that sense of letting go and serenity so characteristic of the seaside."
