WARHOL, an exceptional exhibition by the artist in Landerneau! A friend of the artists and celebrities of his generation, he immortalised their portraits: Truman Capote, Dolly Parton, Yves Saint Laurent, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jacky Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe... An emblematic figure of Pop Art and a visionary, Andy WARHOL challenged the codes of twentieth-century art and advocated "access to art for all". The Pop Art movement was inspired by popular and consumer culture. From 06 June, discover Warhol's 'commercials' in France's leading supermarket! At the Halle des Capucins in Landerneau, the Fonds Hélène & Édouard Leclerc pour la culture will be hosting the first major retrospective devoted to Andy Warhol in France, almost twenty years after his last major exhibition in France. A prestigious collaboration The Andy Warhol Museum of Pittsburgh, located in Andy Warhol's hometown, is the largest museum in the world entirely dedicated to a single artist and the leading institution devoted to the work and legacy of the Pop Art icon. Opened in 1994 in the heart of a former industrial warehouse transformed into an exhibition space, it is part of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and houses the world's most extensive collection devoted to Warhol: almost 13,000 works, as well as archives, films, photographs and personal objects by the artist. In partnership with the Pittsburgh museum, the exhibition presented at the Fonds Hélène & Édouard Leclerc in Landerneau brings together nearly 200 masterpieces, paintings, silkscreens, drawings, films and archives, offering a cross-disciplinary and documented reading of his work. This remarkable collection is presented through an expert reading by curator Amber Morgan. A must-see tribute to Marilyn Monroe's centenary!
