L’Art de la Science

The Société des Fractones, which focuses on scientific research, is offering an exhibition of large-scale laser confocal fluorescence microscopy images one day a week, without booking.

You will experience an encounter between aesthetics and the visualisation of a new biological system. What you will see is the result of both a scientific and an artistic approach. When the experiment is designed, the choice of fluorescent markers is used to visualise the molecules you want to see. The images obtained are then mounted in series to form very large fields until the entire organ or organism is revealed. These multi-colour images are recomposed to form a library that enables the researcher not only to perceive a selective anatomy but also to detect the fundamentals of hitherto unsuspected biological functions.

Interactive activities will introduce you to the world of microscopy. Biology researcher Frédéric Mercier will be offering you a tour of his laboratory on the first floor.

You will then be invited to a concert given by two artists: Cédric Gruénais or Nicole Hugues-Herry, who will perform either a classical repertoire or traditional songs. Depending on the weather, the concerts will be given in front of the Renaissance towers or inside the exhibition hall.
As you enter the property, you'll be surrounded by the remains of a sixteenth-century manor house, including a rampart listed as a historic monument.
