A screening presented as part of Documentary Month 2026
‘The world of the blind is not the night we imagine’ (Jorge Luis Borges). What does the world look like to those who can no longer see it, who cannot see it, or who have never seen it? What lies within this bottomless night, this deep darkness we all imagine? Deprived of sight, Brigitte, Danielle, Hedwige, Bertrand and Saïd tell us about this world where images are different, where images transcend their limits, and where new ways of ‘seeing’ emerge.

*La Nuit qu’on suppose* attempts to bring together worlds that are, at first glance, irreconcilable: that of the sighted and that of the blind. The film explores the nature of the gaze and the connection we forge through our senses, with the world and with others.
