A theatrical and audio adventure
Ages 7 and over
April 1947. A raft, the Kon-Tiki, sets out on a voyage across the Pacific. Six adventurers and a parrot drift on logs, carrying a radio that allows them to communicate with the mainland. At the other end of the airwaves is Gerd Vold, the expedition’s logistics manager. Settled in her radio raft, Gerd brings her personal journey across the Pacific to life, enhanced by projected drawings and live sound effects. There are storms, a whale, swarms of flying fish, phosphorescent plankton, a rather chatty parrot, a man overboard and radio silences. A hybrid show based on a true story, Radio Kon-Tiki blends radio drama, music, the art of sound effects and illustration. An ode to all journeys, both real and imaginary, and to a sense of wonder.
