Rosa Mystica, chants sacrés du Moyen-Âge à nos jours
Concert
Rosa mystica is an a cappella journey through eight centuries of sacred music.
The ensemble’s three female voices create a dialogue between the hymns and pilgrimage chants of the Middle Ages, drawn from the manuscripts of the Cantiga de Santa Maria and the Livre Vermeil de Montserrat, and polyphonic sacred chants from traditions around the world, imbued with a timeless spirituality. The figure of the Virgin Mary is celebrated here as luminous and protective.
Renaissance and Baroque polyphonic works by Praetorius, Lassus and Couperin blend with more recent compositions by Mendelssohn, Duruflé, Poulenc and Kocsár. The three a cappella voices bring tradition and modernity to life with fervour and tenderness.
Cécile Pierrot, soprano, Laia Cortés Calafell, mezzo-soprano, and Roxane Chalard, soprano
