Inhabited since Gallo-Roman times, the Gallic saint Ténénan is said to have founded a hermitage here in the 6th century. The site then developed between the 10th and 13th centuries around an impressive feudal motte topped by a seigneurial tower. Over time, the lords gradually abandoned their hilltop keep in favour of the buildings within the lower enclosure, before the site gradually fell into ruin.
Listed as a Historic Monument since 1978, Lesquelen is an exceptional example of Breton feudal architecture. Your guide is waiting for you in the 6th century!
