Château et jardins de Kergroadez

Environment and nature, Chapel, Palace
Built by the Marquis François III de Kergroadez, the early 17th-century Château de Kergroadez, near Brest, is a classic of defensive architecture dating from the Breton Renaissance period. This vast residence is constructed entirely of Lanildut granite, around a square courtyard enclosed by a defensive wall. Every summer, we organise activities for all the family: candlelit tours, story-telling, donkey rides, concerts, parties, special visits for children and a Son et Lumière spectacular in July 2017. A walk in the leafy 22-hectare park is an opportunity to observe the biodiversity of Kergroadez: the herb garden, the pond, the wildflower meadow and new plantations of rare tree and plant species (some here introduced to France for the first time). In april: plant collection and wildlife day.
