Fortified structure, Fort, Memorial sites, Lighthouse, Ruins and remains
Opposite the convent of the Bay of Angels is Fort Cézon, so called because of the fortifications that were built there. This island was a military fort until it was decommissioned in 1889. The importance of this fortification has always been vital for the port of Aber Wrac'h, which was already mentioned as early as the 14th century as an important port of refuge. Vauban undertook to erect larger fortifications in 1685, but the work was not carried out until the years 1694, 1695. During the Second World War, Fort Cézon was of strategic importance as bunkers were built on the island, integrated into the earthwork of the existing ramparts.
