Maison éclusière de Rosvéguen – Canal de Nantes à Brest

Heritage centre and site

Environment and nature
The Nantes-Brest Canal in Finistère, west Brittany, represents over 200 years of history. From 1811, in central Finistère, men and women worked day after day, lock after lock, to build one of Brittany's most beautiful pieces of heritage. Thanks to the resulting canal, the region was able to achieve a certain economic prosperity. Nowadays, this historic construction is a fully-functioning waterway and home to remarkable natural heritage, too. The Lock-keeper's house in Rosvéguen reveals the cogs and workings of daily life for a lock-keeper or boatman, plus other fascinating discoveries, and beckons you on a voyage that will take but a moment. There are permanent and temporary exhibitions, guided visits and some themed activities with a small fee.
