Manoir de Kerenneur - A journey to the heart of Breton history
Nestling in a natural setting typical of the Pays d'Iroise, Kerenneur Manor is a remarkable example of 15th-century Breton seigneurial architecture. Built around 1400 against a backdrop of turmoil, it is a perfect example of the fortified manor house, a noble residence, a farm and a place of power.
Dominating its surroundings from a strategic position between streams and farmland, Kerenneur had all the assets of an exceptional estate: strong defensive functions (machicolated gate, loopholes), agricultural and economic wealth (mills, land, outbuildings), and symbols of prestige (chapel, dovecote, coat of arms).
Now carefully restored, the manor house boasts authentic architecture combining medieval and Renaissance influences, with a seigniorial dwelling, paved courtyard, remarkable spiral staircase, living rooms and sculpted features steeped in history.
A lively place open to all, Kerenneur Manor offers :
Guided tours of the manor house and its grounds,
concerts in a unique heritage setting,
conferences open to all.
Between heritage, culture and transmission, Kerenneur offers a sensitive immersion in the history of Léon and is an essential stop-off point for discovering the identity of the Pays d'Iroise.
