But what is a Rad'Oroulant?
A rad'Oroulant is an unidentified non-motorised rolling and floating object, which must be able to roll, float and, if possible, move forward!
It's usually built by a group of friends, family, neighbours, business colleagues, associations, bistros, Sunday tinkerers, week-long tinkerers, holidaymakers and so on. This freely themed craft is handcrafted mainly from recycled materials, and often features a host of unnecessary - but necessary - decorations!
The 2026 event kicks off on Saturday evening at the Salle des Dunes, for the 'before' party. During this evening, which is open to all, you can meet the crews who will be presenting their themes (without revealing everything!), over a musical aperitif hosted by "Les rats crevés", followed by a festive meal hosted by "DJ Mac Fly". The following day, Sunday, in the early afternoon, the Rad'Oroulants will meet at midday in the Lampaul town car park, in front of Le Galion, before setting off at 1.30pm for a parade to the dunes stadium. There, each crew will present their Rad'O and a jury will decide which is the most beautiful, the best decorated, the most inventive, the most dancing... before the land race, followed by a sea race from the Beg Ar Vir slipway to Porspaul, all timed.
The day ends with the prize-giving ceremony.
