The Ensemble Matheus, one of the most renowned ensembles on the international classical music scene, will be performing a special concert at Saint-Ténénan Church.

Founded in 1991 and led by conductor Jean-Christophe Spinosi, the Ensemble Matheus has distinguished itself through its bold approach to musical interpretation. From Monteverdi to Vivaldi, Rossini to Beethoven and Shostakovich, the ensemble explores a particularly wide-ranging repertoire, from the Baroque to contemporary works.

Committed to revitalising performance practices using both period and modern instruments, the Ensemble Matheus is at the forefront of rediscovering early music repertoires, whilst fostering a dialogue between classical music and traditional, folk and contemporary genres.

Throughout its history, the ensemble has performed on the world’s greatest stages and collaborated with prestigious artists such as Cecilia Bartoli, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Rolando Villazón and Philippe Jaroussky. Its work, characterised by this ‘baroque attitude’, enables it to present lively, original performances that are accessible to all audiences.

For this evening in Guerlesquin, the Ensemble Matheus will present a programme showcasing the full richness and energy of its musical approach. A special occasion to discover or rediscover classical music in the exceptional setting of Saint-Ténénan Church.
