Cultural and musical events all year round
Finistère owes its rich culture to its dynamic cultural activities as much as its architectural and historical heritage, with its museums, arts centres and 800 historic monuments. Our year-round cultural calendar features two national theatres, a range of contemporary music venues, a street-arts centre, exhibitions, a broad programme of events and the latest developments from visitor attractions, art centres and galleries.
With over 140 cultural and musical events happening in any year, the small county of Finistère is one of the most active in France. And when it comes to festivals, Finistère’s reputation is hard to beat, ranging from the Vieilles Charrues music festival and the Festival du Bout du Monde through to Douarnenez film festival, the Festival de Cornouaille, the Filets Bleus and many other must-see events. Whether you’re a fan of music, photography, art, theatre or literature, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for in Finistère!
As the area with more coastline than any other in France, Finistère’s culture is inextricably linked to the sea, and this maritime heritage is the greatest influence behind its unique and singular identity. Ours is a fragile heritage that we are committed to maintaining, preserving and raising awareness for, particularly through structures such as Océanopolis, the 70.8 ocean museum and the marine biology stations at Concarneau and Roscoff.
